Yoder's Country Market specializes in bulk food. In order to provide you with the best quality at the best price, we buy our products in large quantities from over 50 different suppliers.
Most of our items come in 50lb bags or 25lb boxes. We then repackage the goods into clear plastic bags of various sizes to meet the needs of our customers. Of course, you can still buy in bulk for an even greater savings!
Another feature that sets us apart is our homemade baked goods. Six Mennonite bakers supply us with a variety of breads, pies, cakes, and cookies all made from scratch, without preservatives, and baked at home in their state inspected kitchens. It just doesn't get much better than that!
We are happy to offer quality all-natural meats from local growers. Our organic, gluten-free and sugar-free sections continue to expand. We are also able to special order hard-to-find items that we do not keep in stock.
Our friendly staff are happy to make sandwiches to suit even the most particular tastes. Customers can choose to enjoy their sandwiches or homemade soups (seasonal) in our indoor dining area, or if the weather is nice they can sit outside on our assortment of lawn furniture hand-crafted by the Amish and Mennonites in Lancaster, Pa.
While food is our focus, it’s not the extent of our store. Burt’s Bees and Dionis Health and Body Care products are a favorite of our customers. Each of our Nature’s Sunshine health supplements come with detailed information to help our customers find just the products they need. We also offer a nice selection of kitchen gadgets, Rada knives, books, Bibles, gifts, and more! For a complete Yoder’s experience, a visit to the barnyard is always a hit—the animals are happy to have visitors anytime!
Yoder's Country Market began in 1984 when Owen and Erma Yoder put shelves in their tiny 7' x 11' utility room, hung up a sign saying "Yoder's Bulk Foods" and began selling cheese, baking supplies, spices, nuts, and fruits.
Their children: Dorcas (17), Steven (15), Joel (12), and Michael (8) all helped with the business. Michael remembers trying to cut a block of cheese for a customer but was too little to cut all the way through the block so the customer had to come around the counter to help him. The whole family gives Joel a hard time about when he was supposed to be watching the store but instead was out in the back yard chasing squirrels!
After nine months in the little utility room, the family closed in their carport and moved the business into their new addition, nearly tripling the show room. In 1988 the current property was purchased and the Yoder's built a 30' x 80' building with their home on one end and the store in the other, and changed the name to Yoder's Country Market. Owen's mother, Amanda, moved with them and helped in the store weighing sandwich meats and packaging spices until she was 95 years old! In addition to bulk foods, herbs, and cheeses, they began selling books and gifts. Two more additions increased the showroom and added a kitchen and warehouse. In 2005, Owen and Erma moved out of their end of the building and the store expanded again to its current size.
Michael and his wife Heather took over the family business in 2007, carrying on the good old-fashioned values that have always been a part of Yoder's Country Market.
